Repotting Sansevieria Cylindrica and Sansevieria Whale Fin

Recently, I have seen many plant owners discussed the surprise they found when repotting their snake plants. Many found their Sansevieria plants were bound by ropes, rubber bands, or cages under the soil. Depending on what material the growers used to set the plants in place, it could stunt the growth, or worse, kill the plant in the long term. As a plant lover, I hate repotting; but I know how essential repotting is to houseplants.

Today, I decided to repot my Sansevieria Cylindrica and Sansevieria Masoniana because of noticing some mold is growing on the soil. I also like to take the opportunity to check if I would find any ropes or cages like what many people said. I purchased my Sansevieria Cylindrica when I was at Ikea. It has been living happily in my bathroom by the window. I bought my Sansevieria online at Hirts.com. When I pulled it out of the pot, I was shocked to see how much mold was growing on the soil! I can't confirm if the mold came from the nursery, or it was from my watering. Anyway, I don't think it's hurting the plant too much. The baby Whale Fin seems to be growing.

For repotting, I used 70 % cactus mix and 30% Perlite. For pest prevention, I added a little bit of Mosquito Bits and Systemic House Plant Insect Control. This combination has been effectively helping me to keep the pests away!
