My Philodendron Melanochrysum is Here
I love Philodendron, and Philodendron Micans has been one of my favorites. Awhile back, I noticed another Philodendron plant that looked very similar to Philodendron Micans, except the leaves were much larger. Philodendron Melanochrysum or the Black Gold Philodendron, has the same velvety leaf texture. Now seeing it the first time in person, I still do think they look identical, especially when Melanochrysum is in its juvenile form.
Last week when I saw Melanochrysum was in stock on Logee's at a reasonable price, I decided to place my first order with them. I guess what's considered reasonable is always subjective, but when it is in my affordable price range and is similar to the market price, I would totally buy it! Other than the price factor, Philodendrons are usually pretty tough, knowing it's likely I can keep it alive had helped my purchase decisions. For example, until I figure it out, I wouldn't buy another Anthurium that is over $50. Anthurium is much needier and could die fast if you don't give it the right watering routine or humidity level.
Logee's shipped out my order within a week with USPS and provided tracking. The plant arrived quickly even though I only choose standard shipping. However, their shipping charge seemed higher compared to other companies that I had purchased from in the past. You can see my Philodendron Melanochrysum looks relatively healthy, but we will see if it's going to show any signs of shipping shock in a few days.
