Marc Jacobs Denim Tote Bag Review | Denim lovers' dream bag
Recently, when I did a spring cleaning with my closet, I cleared out many clothes I was no longer wearing. Once things became more organized, I realized most of my clothes were in blue and gray. It felt monochromatic, but I don't think it was terrible. As we get older, we learn more about ourselves and know what works for us. From that perspective, it is much easier when I buy bags and accessories!
Since I have been hoarding so many bags, I haven't had a chance to use my Marc Jacobs Leather Small Tote. With leather material, the bag looks more dressy than its canvas siblings. I have been working at home non-stop, and I haven't attended any events or parties. I love the bag dearly, and I am sure I will find some opportunities to take it out with me! I considered buying a canvas version for my everyday use, but Marc Jacobs dropped the denim version! Even just looking at the pictures on their website, I immediately knew I wanted that bag! It will be a perfect tote to add to my wardrobe!
It was challenging for me to decide which size to get. I have always loved bags with a crossbody strap, but I already have a small one in leather. So I figured I should get the big one to compare the size differences. Anyway, I am sure I would love to use it even without a crossbody strap, and if I love it enough, I could always get the small one! The matching strap on the small size is so gorgeous!
Looking at the bag, almost everything is the same as my small Marc Jacobs tote, except the size and the handles. Since it doesn't have a crossbody strap, the top handles are much longer so that you can wear it on your shoulder comfortably. Also, compared to the small leather tote, the large denim tote doesn't have a magnet on that mysterious exterior handle to keep the zipper end from dangling. I would simply tuck the zipper end inside the tote to keep a clean look. At some point, could we please have Marc explain what the side loop thing really does? Everyone is speculating, but I feel like I need a real answer from the person who designed the bag!
Like all other of MJ's recent totes, you get a zipper flap closure for the main compartment. Inside the bag, you will also find two slip pockets and a zipped pocket. And of course, if you have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, you could put your phone in any interior pockets, and it will fit nicely. The canvas and leather versions of this tote have a more rigid structure. With denim material, this bag feels softer and has a less boxy shape unless you use a bag organizer inside.
Since the design is the same as all other recent totes, the unique feature of this bag is the material. The denim fabric is thick and soft, and feels just like your favorite pair of denim jeans in your closet. With that said, I suspect this tote is not treated, both internal and external. If you are not careful with it, it is likely to get stains and marks like sometimes you get on your jeans. Marc Jacobs tastefully did the patchwork design on this tote. With multi shades of blue, it becomes a more versatile bag when matching your outfits. Also, I love the contrasting white stitches on the tote. The stitches are all straight and perfect, I am pretty sure the bag will hold up well with the durable thread they used.
In conclusion, I love this tote! If you love blue, denim, and a soft squishy bag you could hug, this it is! I heard they wouldn't produce more once they sell out, so get all three sizes, and you will love them!
