First impression on Baggu suede leather basic tote
Drinking my coffee in the morning, procrastinating on which bag I should talk about next. The last couple of weeks had been hectic, and I didn't have time to sit for long to put my thoughts down about the new bags I bought.
Let's get straight into it and talk about the tote I recently bought from Baggu. I have been staring at it and wanting to take it out, but I don't want to get it dirty before taking pictures of it.
To me, Baggu is always well known for its fun, reusable shopping totes. I went on their website to shop because I was looking for some affordable tote that I could use and abuse without worrying about it.
To my surprise, they actually have leather bags as well! However, I think they are phasing them out since I only found them on their sale page. The first bag that caught my eyes was this basic suede tote in midnight blue. I have always wanted a suede bag, but I didn't want to spend a lot because we all know how easily suede leather could be marked and damaged. The sale price took my hesitation away, and here I am with a suede tote on my lap.
The midnight blue is deep in color and almost looks black if you are in a dimly lit room. It is not a heavy tote, and it has the right thickness of leather. It is very soft and squishy but not so thin that you would worry something could poke through it.
They did warn about color transfer with this tote, and I could see why. When I glided my hands through the leather, I could feel a tad of stickiness from the dye. I imagine it will get better once I began to use it. Luckily, most of my clothes are in blue or dark tones, so I don't have to worry about the dye getting on my shirts.
Their website says the tote is lined with part recycled cotton, but it feels a lot like polyester. I believe it would be much better if they had lined with their regular cotton fabric.
Inside the tote, it has a zipper pocket on the side. The pocket is relatively shallow. I could put my iPhone 12 Pro Max in it, but I wouldn't stuff it too much or put my keys in it; I fear the fabric wouldn't hold up. The zipper they used for this bag is metal, which is nice, but it is not a smooth zipper. I had to rub my zipper lube on it a few times to get it to glide smoothly.
Overall I like the bag enough to use it. Because this tote is so soft, it is very slouchy. It does look like it has a better structure when you add a bag organizer to it. It should work well for my everyday day-out activities, but I don't expect it to be extra durable since I don't see any rivets or reinforced stitches on the tote.
I am also interested in their regular Baggu reusable bags. The colorful patterns are not my typical style, but I think it is a fun way to add some colors to our everyday life!
