Coach Dempsey Carryall With Patch Review | A Perfect Day-To-Day leather bag
Before I get into the review for this Coach bag, I admit I wasn't a fan of Coach Outlet bags. They said you are not getting a deal because Coach produces those bags specifically for the outlet stores with cheaper materials. I know I wasn't the only one who felt that way with Coach outlet bags because you could find many articles or videos online teaching you how to differentiate between the retail bags and the outlet bags. One of the critical elements was finding the F on the serial number, then you know it is an outlet bag. That may have been true for a while back, but I think it is a myth for now! Why? I can tell you straight away the Coach outlet bag I am reviewing in this article doesn't have an "F" in its serial number. If you are wondering, I bought it directly from Coach, so it isn't a replica
Are the leathers for the Coach outlet bags really second grade? Are they that bad? By visiting Coach outlets multiple times lately, I can tell you the answer is yes and no. For example, I love the look, the color, and the design on the Coach Horse And Carriage Tote from the outlet, but when I saw it in person and felt the texture of the bag, I wasn't convinced. The bag may soften after being used, but the first impression wasn't great. I may still revisit the idea of getting the tote if it's at the right price point.
On the other hand, I think the leather on all the Coach Dempsey bags is suitable for the price. Owning a Marc Jacobs leather tote myself, I don't think the leather quality of the Dempsey bags is so much worse than the one on Marc Jacobs'. I love the Dempsey line so much that I bought both the tote and the carryall! Since I mentioned the price is one of the things I consider when I shop, I believe some of the Coach bags are worth the price tag they put on when they are on sale. You may be too busy to visit Coach outlet stores frequently, but since Coach has a website for their outlet bags, you could buy whenever you want, when you see a deal!
Personally, I am not too into monogram bags. Right now, I prefer minimalist structural bags, and the Coach Dempsey Carryall With Patch is pretty much everything I would have wanted. Even though it has a rather big Coach logo patch, it is in the same color as the bag and doesn't stand out much when you look at it. It doesn't bother me, and if you don't like the logo you can always turn it around since both sides of the bag basically look the same.
The Coach Dempsey Carryall is slightly smaller than the Marc Jacobs Leather Small Tote Bag in terms of size. On the other hand, compared to the Louis Vuitton ONTHEGO tote, it is smaller than the MM but larger than the PM. It is not a big work tote for you to carry your laptop or iPad Pro, but you could load it up quite a bit. In a way, this carryall is quite similar to the Coach Rogue 25. It almost looks like a simplified version of the Rogue. I have bought many huge bags recently, and then I realize that I don't have the opportunity to use them. I don't want to use them on an airplane when I travel because they would get stains and scratched up easily. So, unless I am taking a road trip or going glamping, I simply don't get to use my large bags. On my day to day basis, I only need a small crossbody to carry my phone, wallet, mask, and sanitizing wipes. If you are in the same boat as me, this Coach Dempsey Carryall would be perfect for that purpose! For a relatively small size bag, Coach Dempsey Carryall is roomy!
When it comes to the design of the Coach Dempsey Carryall, you can tell it is a well-thought-out bag. It has small handles that are very comfortable to use. If you carry the bag on your shoulder or crossbody, you could fold the handles into the bag to simplify its silhouette. In addition, the handles have rivets reinforcement, so even if you load it up, I am confident that the handles won't fall apart on you!
I often found when bags have sharp corners at the bottom, you do get corner wear easily. However, with the Coach Dempsey Carryall, the corners are slightly rounded, so even when you bump it into a wall or something, it won't get corner wear so quickly. On top of that, it comes with four metal feet at the bottom. So I can put the bag on the floor if I want to and not worry about the bag getting stains or dirt.
This Coach carryall doesn't have a zipper closure like the one on the Marc Jacobs leather tote, but it does have a magnetic snap closure. And may I say, the magnet of the bag closure is relatively strong! So it won't randomly open up when you carry it around. Inside the bag, you find a couple of slip pockets on one side and a zipped pocket on the other. The slip pockets are suitable for smaller phones, but not my iPhone 12 Pro Max size. On the other hand, the zipped pocket fits my giant iPhone perfectly if that helps you understand the pockets' size.
The bag also features a fabric lining, which feels like polyester material, something you can wipe clean easily if you spill something inside the bag. The only thing that is not working for me is the skinny strap. I prefer thick straps as they are more comfortable if you have to carry the bag for a long time. Since I have plenty of straps sitting around these days, it won't be an issue for me to switch out the strap. It is actually fun to style the bag with different straps depending on my mood!
All and all, I am very impressed by Coach Dempsey Carryall at this price point, which I bought when it was on sale. It is a stylish, minimalist, affordable leather bag that everyone should have at least one in their closet! It is a perfect day-to-day bag that you can use, and live life with it, instead of babying it as you do with your Louis Vuitton bags! Now, I need to wait for the bag to go on sale again to catch other colors of this bag!
