Since my friends know I love tote bags, many of them had asked if I would get the Louis Vuitton ONTHEGO Tote. Even though I love the shape and the structure of ONTHEGO, I don't love monogram bags. If I were going to get one, I would choose the ONTHEGO MM or GM with Monogram Empreinte Leather instead of the canvas version. The monogram on the canvas version is too loud for me, plus, I have seen too many YouTubers discussing quality issues with the canvas ONTHEGO.
Pretty sure one of the main reasons many of us are not buying an ONTHEGO is the price tag. Buying an over $3000 tote is not on my daily expense schedule. If I ever travel to Paris or Italy again, I may pick one up as a souvenir if it is still an available item. For now, I rarely go out or socialize. Spending thousands of dollars on an item that I may not get to use much feels like a waste. On top of that, I have so many other fabulous bags that I love using; for now, I will just let ONTHEGO sit on my wish list and maybe get one when the time is right.
Tote bags have become a popular trend in the last few years. When a company comes up with a successful product, others would follow suit and produce something similar. I think I heard some influencers called them dupes. I don't believe the ONTHEGO tote is strictly original; it is a simple square/rectangular shape tote that has been around forever. Most companies did put in the effort to add in their design elements to make it their own. I wouldn't call them duped bags. On one exception, when I visited Michael Kors outlet last weekend, I couldn't believe I saw Louis Vuitton ONTHEGO dupe in their store. They looked exactly like the ONTHEGO except for the logo monogram. It had the same rivet reinforcement on the top four corners, and it also came with short handles and long straps like the LV ONTHEGO.
You are in luck if you have been looking for LV ONTHEGO affordable alternatives. No, I was not going to include a Dior Book Tote. For that price, I would definitely choose the leather ONTHEGO. Last week, I spent some time looking into every company I could find that produces bags. Unsurprisingly, I often find something similar in forms and shapes. The Wilde Square Tote from Maverick & Co. looks exceptionally well made. The tote has a strong structure that would look great for business settings and your dinner date after work hours. The bag was made from vegan leather, which would be more carefree than a genuine leather bag. The crossbody strap would be handy when you don't want to carry it with your hand for long.
I have been impressed by the quality of the Dooney bags. This Belmar Janine 30 N S comes in a squarish shape, and it is made in smooth Italian pebble leather. The tan color of this bag is simply dreamy to look at, and the leather will produce a lovely patina after you use it for a while. The tote is lined, it has feet, comes with a crossbody shoulder strap, pockets for organization, and a closure flap; I don't know what else we can ask for more, right? I want to mention that once the leather softens up, the bag may lose its structural shape if that's something important to you.

I believe that Coach Dempsey Carryall is a bag designed and produced specifically for the Coach Outlet website. Knowing Coach's quality and having this bag myself, I highly recommend this bag even though it is an outlet bag. With its relatively affordable price point when it is on sale, it is excellent having a stylish carefree leather bag. The Carryall came with a crossbody strap, giving you the convenience of hands-free handling. In addition, the handles are designed to easily hide them inside the bag when using the crossbody strap. That way, it gives you a minimalist silhouette if that's the style you are after.
I couldn't resist when Coach made a minimalist bag. Coach Field Tote usually comes in many different sizes, materials, and patterns. I love this Field Tote 30 in Colorblock with Coach Badge from what is currently available on their website. It is in a classic tote silhouette with a neutral, minimalist color palette.
Tory Burch Ella Tote is a classic, they know it, and they provide you endless options. However, the one I think is worth looking at is their Ella Suede Tote. Many influencers have been down on Michael Kors recently, but I think their bags are worth another look. For example, this Mercer Large Saffiano Leather Tote is a structural tote that won't lose its shape and will at least last you for years. One thing though, I know many people do love monograms, but if Michael Kors is listening, could you please also make more bags without heavy logos and monograms?

Look at this bag with its blue stripes! I am not a beach person, but I think I need my summer vacation to the beach right away with this bag! This sailor style of tote is so perfect for summer, time to walk down the beach with your favorite books and enjoy some sun!
If you go to the Kate Spade outlet store, the Trista Shopper is one of the cutest bags in the store. The color combo of this bag is so young, and I love how they keep the design simple to easily match your style. I want to point out that the bag is smaller in person compared to what you see in the picture.
At this point, it is a crime not to recommend a Telfar Shopping Bag, not that they need my recommendation. I understand the importance of supporting a black, queer fashion designer, but often the colors he put out are so bold, in no way could I pull it off. Right now, I am eyeing the navy color in medium size. Unfortunately, all their bags are sold out, and I may have to wait for a long time for the navy color to be back in stock.
It is great to include another vegan bag on this list! Dagne Dover has been on my radar with their TV and social media push. The daily tote is so well thought out with its organization compartments. It basically has everything you need except a crossbody strap. The strap is non-removable and can only be used as a shoulder strap.
Romantic Crown Signature Logo Shopper Bag
Romantic Crown is a Korean company, but their color palette reminds of traditional British and Scottish styles. Since the website is mainly in Korean, I don't know much about the bag other than loving the vibes. The bag is made with Cordura fabric, which should be durable and also water-resistant. I will write a review when I receive mine, but now I can only wait since they haven't shipped out my order.
Pottery Barn Canvas Square Utility Tote
If you like something more casual and less dressy, you could consider getting the Canvas Square Utility Tote from Pottery Barn. The canvas bag has contrasting leather handles and features two internal pockets for your organizing purpose.
Buying from the Fossil website could be tricky. They sell both outlet and retail items on their website. From my personal experience, their retail bags have much higher quality than their outlet bags. If you want to try Fossil but want to avoid getting an outlet bag, make sure you read the information under Product Care, it does say if the bag is made explicitly for outlet purposes. I have seen this Carmen Large Tote in person once. The bag does look well made, but it is not a structural tote. The leather is soft and supple, and it is more of a slouchy bag.
I didn't expect to like a tote from Calvin Klein. I have felt personally disconnected from their style for years. So when I saw this Beckah Tote on Macy's website, I knew I had to include it! The tote's design is well balanced if you ignore the out-of-place blue hangtag, and the neutral color palette is in perfection! On a side note, if you want a smaller bag, its sibling Beckah Crossbody would be a great choice as well. Beckah Crossbody came in faux leather, and it has a more refined look.

Having a couple of bags from Ichizawa, I know their quality in canvas bags is best of the best. The H-11 tote is classic and traditional, yet its silhouette matches the current tote trend in fashion. Their canvas bag is handmade in Kyoto, and the quality is exceptional. You have many color options, but personally, I love the navy color from Ichizawa. The color is unique and not something you would see on the bags from other companies.
